Crown Uptown Update

There is an update to the whole Crown Uptown situation.

The City Council recently failed (votes were 3-3, they needed 5 votes) to add Crown Uptown to the Wichita list of Historic Places.

Although this wouldn’t have necessarily stopped any demolition plans owner Mike Brown might have, it would have made it more difficult.

The door is now open for Mike Brown to do whatever he wants with it - tear it down, renovate it (if he gets his capacity wishes, this could happen), or something more sinister - bring another chain to College Hill.

It does beg the question, what makes building historic?
