The Future of the (old) Downtown Library

The most life the old Downtown Library has seen in recent years is as a center for Covid vaccinations.

Now the Wichita City Council will take the first steps towards turning the former learning center into an event venue.

That would include $2 million in “transient guest tax funds” to renovate the first floor.

Congrats to Kim Hett on taking over as the new director of Khan Lab School Wichita a couple of months ago! I have known Kim Mrs. Hett since 2001 and she is the perfect person to take over Khan Lab School.

KLS Wichita is planning to expand to high school grades among other things.

Opera Kansas announces Stardust 2025 | Battle for Prom Queen, a one-night mashup of operatic fireworks and 1980s prom-night drama on Saturday, 11/15 at CityArts. Proceeds support Opera Kansas’ 40th Anniversary Season.

Warm Hearts Coat Distribution

The Salvation Army’s Warm Hearts Coat Distribution for Sedgwick County residents has been rescheduled to 10/27 - 10/31 due to a blown transformer last week.

The Kickback

This Thursday is Wichita’s Exclusive ALL-INCLUSIVE Kickball Tournament (free event for spectators) at 221 N Crowne Drive in Goddard (it was at SouthWest Boys Club, but it might rain so they’re moving to turf - big brain move)!

It starts off at 5:30pm with a 5k run / walk then a kickball tournament in addition to vendors and wellness partners. You don’t want to miss this one.
