Busy weekend ahead!

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Wichita!

Let's get to it!

- Landon

Your Weekend Itenerary

This weekend is crazy busy. I’ll give you a quick example of what your weekend could look like:

  • you get off work tonight and head to one of the College Happy Hour Hotspots for drinks and dinner

  • Drive up to Charles Koch Arena to watch The Bronze Bomber (former champ Deontay Wilder) and Wichita local Nico Hernandez take to the boxing ring

  • Or if boxing isn’t your thing, maybe you head over to Riverflix to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark

  • When you get up Saturday, you can head over to Anime Fest Wichita at the Hyatt starting as early as 10am

  • Wichita’s premier taco event, Taco Fest kicks off at 3pm at the Fountains at the WaterWalk

  • Once you’ve filled up on Tacos, make your way across the bridge to Equity Bank Park to watch the Average Joe’s take on the Globo Tubs in a championship Dodgeball game in the outfield at 5:30pm before watching the Wind Surge take on Springfield for Dodgeball Night

Nothing to do in Wichita, huh? HA!

Together with Meritrust Credit Union

Federally insured by NCUA. Subject to approval.

When we started Wichita Life, we needed a credit union.

We didn't want just any credit union though, we wanted one we could walk into and talk to a person face to face if or when we needed help.

That's why we chose Meritrust for our business account, our auto loan and even our mortgage.

With 10 branches in the Wichita area and plenty of ATMS / ITMs, we know help is close.

Plus, their app makes life easy. No more dragging kids around just to deposit a check.

Meritrust is what works for us. That's why we trust them with... pretty much everything.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Opening

Ken N Barbie’z Rollin Diner

Ken N Barbie’z food truck has been around a long time and it was just destroyed in a fire. You can help support these local entrepreneurs here.

East vs West

This is a great breakdown of restaurants that decided to start west before east and how that worked out for them. Inspired by the recent opening of Raising Cane’s on the west side. If you’re getting paywalled, try this link.

The infamous Bleckley Street in Crown Heights floods often and it can be dangerous.

Dam Jam Cancelled

Dam Jam was officially cancelled for 2025.

Wichita Shows Up

We have a busy week coming up, but I wanted to highlight something I think is pretty special. Wichita has showed UP for some of the bigger events recently:

  • Athletes Unlimited Softball League has ended its first season at WSU’s Wilkins stadium that nearly sold out 2/3 of their 24 games.

  • Somewhere Fest brought 15,000 attendees from 6 countries and 31 states. This is up from ~12,000 in 2024.

  • Riverfest had a total of 151,000 attendees, up from 116,600 last year.

Did you go to any of these events?

let us know what else you'd be excited to attend!
