Baby Elephant

Wichita is having a baby boom.

At least an elephant baby boom.

Asali (sweet like honey in Swahili) was just born last Tuesday, June 3rd and the gender and name was revealed on Thursday.

She joins Bomani (born 4/10) and Kijani (born 4/14) as the other babies at Sedgwick County Zoo.

The name Asali is special to SCZ because the herd matriarch of the herd Stephanie (54 years old) was named Asali before she left Africa in 1972.

The energy at Wilkins Stadium was electric on Saturday. There was quite literally standing room only as there were no seats left. The Volts went on to beat the Blaze 5-1.
