🌾 Spring Forward
And new Downtown Sculptures

TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Wichita!
I’ve got good news and bad news..
Good news - Spring is so close. Bad news - we lose an hour of sleep tomorrow night.
Anyways, let’s get to it!
- Landon

Downtown Sculptures

You may have noticed empty art pedestals around downtown and Old Town. Those have been there a while.
Last year, a 10-person selection committee selected 13 sculptures finalists from 234 submissions. They are various sizes from 4.5 - 9.5 ft tall.
The $200,000 purchase was just approved by the city council on Tuesday. Lack of funding led to the old statues being removed in the first place. These new ones will be installed later this year or early next year.

Together with the City of Wichita
Ozone season runs March 1–October 31, when our region is more at risk for high ozone levels. To help improve local air quality, the City of Wichita is launching its 2026 Lawn Care Rebate Program on March 1.
Residents can receive rebates for switching to cleaner lawn equipment alternatives. The City has allocated $10,000 in rebates, available first come, first served.
If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your mower or yard tools, this is your sign.

CIVIL
No Sales Tax
Not for the 1% sales tax increase.
Besides the final result, what stood out to me was that only ~50,000 people voted. Does this seem low or high to you?
Property Valuations
If your property value jumped by more than you thought (like 20%+ for some people), you do have until the end of the month to appeal it.
Mold
Mold is not good for anyone. It is especially not good for our Fire Stations where FS15 has already closed with a few more on the list of remediation.
LOCAL
Stingray Farewell

A few years ago, the Sedgwick County Zoo brought in some stingray friends.
This season will be your last chance to see and feed the little guys.
Touching them is for free, feeding them will cost ya (just a few bucks).
Laser K-Pop Demon Hunters
I think that title speaks for itself, don’t miss your chance to see it.
ICT Trees
100 free trees will be given away on April 11th from ICT Trees.
The Oscars
The Oscars are right around the corner (March 15th).
The Wichita Public Library will be screening the short films that are nominated at the Boulevard Theatre Old Town.
