🌾 SNOW DAY

Anyone build a snowman yet?

Together With

Good morning, Wichita!

SNOW DAY! The 6.6 inches of snow (and the cold wind chills this morning) are enough to call off schools in the area. Where we sledding?

Let’s get to it!

2026 Developments

Wichita Business Journal

Wichita is growing, whether you like it or not.

The Wichita Business Journal put together a list of more than 30 construction projects to watch this year. Definitely go check out the full list, but here are a few to highlight:

  • Exploration Place Destination Playscape - Set to open March 2026

  • Mammothh Clubhouse - (in former All-Star Adventures East location) - Set to open in Summer 2026

  • Cheesecake Factory - Tentatively Set for a Summer 2026 Opening

  • The Orpheum restoration will reopen this summer

What are you most excited for?

Together with Wichita Wind Surge

Something new is coming to the ballpark in 2026.

A Mystery Identity is on the way, and tickets are already on sale. Lock in your seats and be part of it before the big reveal.

Same Wind Surge energy. A fresh new look.

Grab tickets now and keep an eye out for what’s coming 👀

LOCAL BUSINESS

Opening

WSU Campus

WSU Campus said “hold my WuShock Wheat” as they weren’t going to let the rest of Wichita have all the development fun.

In the RSC, Sushi-Do replaced FujiSan and at Braeburn Square Rajadhani Indian Cuisine just opened with Pizza Shuttle on deck to open very soon (next week I believe).

Here is an almost full list of restaurants on campus (we did miss one or two, like the NetApp Cafe).

They are also continuing their 10-year campus master plan (2 years in).

Boulevard Plaza

What happened to Boulevard Plaza?

Derby STAR Bond

Derby stays busy

I don’t really understand STAR (Sales Tax and Revenue) bonds, but I do know they help with entertainment and tourism projects. This article does a great job breaking it down though.

NONPROFIT

Second Light

If you’ve ever wondered about reducing homelessness, check out this WBJ interview with Steve Dixon who is chair of the board of directors for Second Light.

Together with Wichita Riverfest

We are running it back with our friends at Riverfest to show you why this is such a historic festival in Wichita.

This year the party takes place from May 29 through June 6, but you can sign up for many of the events today!

CIVIL

Utility Help

If you or someone you know needs some help with utility payments, applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program opened Tuesday and will run until March 31st.

LOCAL

What does it all mean?

Has anyone seen these ominous billboards around town? Anyone know what they mean? Any guesses?

Cash Mob

Our friend EB is putting together a “Cash Mob” at The James & Rye where essentially everyone hits up a single business to flood them with business, cash, and good vibes.

Head to James and Rye on TODAY (Monday 1/26)!

Changes in the Chamber

John Rolfe has stepped down as the President and CEO of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce, the role he has held since October 2021.

America’s 250th

If math, or history, isn’t your strong suit, then you might not know that America is turning 250 years old this summer.

Check out Wichita250.com for more info on how Wichita will participate.

Local Audiobook

Wichita has no shortage of talented artists, authors, and more.

Timothy Moonlight has a new audiobook to share with you for his suspense novel, Waiting in the Night!

You can find Chapter 1 here:

Movies in Winter

January is often seen as a “not great” month for movie theaters, but that certainly doesn’t apply to Wichita and some of the alternative movies you can go see.

Louie the Clown

If you miss Louie the Clown from Joyland, you’re in luck.

Head to the Ulrich Museum of Art at WSU to check out a new exhibit where you can find the clown and more.
