Should we throw a cake party?

There is a lot to celebrate in Wichita.

And what is the best way to celebrate any special occasion?

Cake.

What if we threw a party… like a cake party? But instead of just the person throwing the party bringing a cake, EVERYONE brings a cake. That’s the only rule.

Picture this: we find a great spot, everyone shows up with a homemade cake, we taste our way through the whole spread, and we crown a winner.

Not a stuffy baking competition..just neighbors showing up with their best, sharing a slice, and meeting the person who made it.

Wichita has some incredibly talented people, including a lot of talented bakers and bakeries, but I am confident there are hundreds of you who have amazing recipes waiting to be shared. And just to be clear….no cupcakes or cookies. Cake only.

The 2026 Spring Parade of Homes is HERE and this is your chance to see where dreams are built, and where inspiration comes home.

This isn’t just an event to tour homes (although they are amazing to look at), it is an opportunity to interact with the top builders in the Wichita area, ask questions, and get inspired about your possible future home.

There’s not one not two, but THREE weekends for you to stop by:

Farmers Markets

The Wichita area has its fair share of farmers markets.

A recent one stopped in Derby, so the City of Derby decided to step up and host their own.

Most Liked Restaurant

Every year, EB runs a ‘Most Liked’ Restaurant bracket that aligns with March Madness.

This isn’t the best restaurant (necessarily because that is objective), but the most liked.

Station 8 BBQ just edged out Buster’s Burger Joint for the top spot. Agree or disagree?

What is a sound scientist?

Johnny’s Tavern (the former Anchor spot) was getting pretty loud so they brought in a sound scientist to help out.

Protect Your Mind

The next generation is obviously extremely important.

That’s why Protect Your Mind (a nonprofit) has a mission to help teenage boys succeed in life.

Marketing for Good

Today is the final day to register (to make sure you have lunch from Mi Sueno) for the Marketing for Good Conference for nonprofits and good causes!

The event will take place next Friday (4/17) at WSU Tech South and will give nonprofits a chance to learn, work, and connect!

All-America City Finalist

Wichita has been named one of 20 finalists for the National Civic League 2026 All-America City Award. Wichita is a five-time winner of the award, from years 1961, 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2019.

Wichita Jobs

If you or someone you know is looking for a job, the City of Wichita is hiring for several positions at the pool like Lifeguard, Cashier, Pool Manager, and more.

Our friends at Lead Wichita are also helping spread the word that Live the Life is hiring for a Regional Director to oversee a healthy marriages and family initiative. I’d be happy to connect you.

Bomb Squad Dog

The Wichita PD has been approved by the Wichita City Council to purchase one $340k robot dog from Boston Dynamics for the bomb squad (but not for SWAT).

Wheeling Wild

Unfortunately tomorrow’s Wheeling Wild event is sold out, but mark your calendar for May 9th, June 13th, July 11th, and August 8th for your chance to ride your bike at the zoo!

Great Plains Update

The Great Plains Nature Center will look a little different for a couple of years while the building is shut down to repair its foundation.

Riverflix Returns

Movie by the River at Exploration Place are back in 2026! They will be going for 27 weeks straight with the exception of the Drone Light Festival!

It kicks off April 24th with SING!
