Pedestrian Safety

With nearly 80 pedestrians struck by vehicles in Wichita so far this year, the Wichita City Council has approved about $600,000 for pedestrian safety improvements focused on making crossings safer across the city. The funding will support upgrades such as enhanced crosswalks and other safety measures at high-priority locations identified by city staff.

Peach Jam Returns to Meadowlark Farm

Meadowlark Farm's annual Peach Jam takes place Friday, July 24, from 4–7 p.m., featuring live music from the Llew Brown Band, fresh peach and apple picking, food, hard cider, lawn games, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. Advance tickets are $8 ($13 at the gate), while season pass holders and children under 10 get in free.

Mark Arts will open Subcreators: Elisabeth Owens & John Pirtle on Friday, July 31, showcasing recent work from two Wichita contemporary artists. A free opening reception will be held from 5–7 p.m., and the exhibition will remain on display in the Gladys & Karl T. Wiedemann Gallery through September 19.
