I hope everyone enjoys some down time, some delicious food, and maybe some snow at some point (but apparently not on Christmas because it is going to be 75?!)

I hate to say it, but someone has to… see you next year!

Together with The City of Wichita

It is hard to stay on top of all the news in Wichita.

I hope we are part of the solution for that.

But the City of Wichita puts out a ton of info that is hard even for us to cover, so why not get it straight from the source?

Opening

Anniversary

Ignite at K-96

Another big development coming to the east side is Ignite at K-96. It was just approved by the council to start development on the third and final phase which includes immersive mini golf, go-karts, surfing, baseball, ice rink and NCAA tennis complex for WSU.

Wichita Brewery

After 9 years, Wichita Brewing Company will close its brewing facility and transfer that role to Walnut River Brewing Co out of El Dorado. The end user probably won’t even notice as Wichita Brewing will contthe backinue operating as usually, just some changes on the back end.

Christmas Day

Some people love to cook up a feast on Christmas. Others do not want to cook at all.

Luckily here is a list from our friend EB on the Wichita restaurants open on Christmas Day in case you fall in the later bucket.

Food Hall

There is a potential food hall coming to the 21st and Hillside area with Georgio’s II BBQ and Lady Burritos as potential cornerstones. This project is in development from Steve Feilmeier.

Last Minute Gift

This puzzle is coffee table-worthy, great for family nights, and a genuinely thoughtful local gift.

CIVIL

Real ID

Wichita Eisenhower National Airport is preparing for a busy holiday travel season, with TSA urging travelers to bring a REAL ID or another accepted form of identification to avoid delays.

Travelers can still fly without a REAL ID for now, but starting in February, those without one will face a $45 verification fee for a temporary, 10-day verification period that is not guaranteed.

TSA also reminds travelers they won’t need to remove their shoes, but should use that time to empty their pockets to keep lines moving.

I recently interviewed Corey Mead. Corey is not from Wichita, but he wrote a book based on a true story called The Pursued about The Poet, who was a psychopath roaming the streets of Wichita back in the era of BTK.

Griswold House

The Griswold House in Rose Hill is one of the most impressive set ups I have seen at a residential spot.

Mike starts setting up in August and I believe him.

The first chimpanzee born at the Sedgwick County Zoo has died at the age of 41.

Mwana was born on October 28, 1984.
