Spent the day yesterday at Sand Creek Station golf course for the YoungLife Fundrasier. It was an absolutely beautiful day out! I hope you all have a great weekend.

Kansas Aviation Museum

Ben Sauceda and the Kansas Aviation Museum are trying to take KAM to the next level when it comes to education and learning opportunities.

The new sponsorship from Bombardier, Airbus, and Boeing is going to help that come true with the three-phase education wing expansion that will open a classroom and lab space in Spring 2027.

Exploration Place

As you all know, we love Exploration Place and the people there.

If you haven’t heard, two of the new Playscape attractions are currently closed (soaring rocket and replica Beech staggerwing biplane) due to some needed repairs and an overall look at the safety of the new equipment.

That being said, the new cascade water feature is now open!

And don’t forget about the Riverflix they host every week for free! Zootopia 2 tonight!

Friends of Wichita Pioneers

Have you heard of Friends of Wichita Pioneers?

It is a nonprofit that helps care for grave sites by organizing cleanings at Highland Cemetery.

A couple of days ago, the ribbon cutting took place at Woodland Park Historical Walking Trail at 841 W 21st St N.

A 20-year master plan is in the works for our Dwight D Eisenhower National Airport to support community growth and maintain an FAA-approved Airport Layout Plan.

Minisa Bridge

There are a number of places in Wichita on the National Register of Historic Places and Minisa Bridge (near North High) has joined those ranks.

The bridge was built in 1932 over the Little Ar-Kansas River.

Boom Ball

You’ve likely heard of Banana Ball and the Savana Bananas (or the two teams coming to Wichita), but have you heard of Boom Ball? Because it is also coming to Wichita on 8/22 at Equity Bank Park!

Set to Bloom

Riverside is set to bloom on May 1 with “Coming Home to the Heart,” a May Day-inspired gathering centered on joy, connection, and honoring the legacy of women in Wichita. Hosted by Retreat to Joy, the event brings a garden party atmosphere with hands-on experiences, creative activations, and space for community reflection. It’s designed as both a celebration of Riverside’s past and a reminder that joy and belonging can be intentionally cultivated right now.

Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby (the horse race) is tomorrow (5/2).

You can partake at Gilley’s with the Gilley’s Gambling Hall Derby Day, Hopping Gnome watch party, and I am sure much more!

RIP to James Rangel Jr, who many people know along with his stand Maximus the Magnificent.
