TOGETHER WITH
Happy New Year, Wichita!
If you go to a church, work at a church, or maybe just know a pastor somewhere in town - please send a pastor (or someone at your church) our deep dive on CarePortal. This is the easiest way to connect people who need help with people who can help and it makes all of the difference for our community.
Let’s get to it!

P.S. It would mean a lot if you gave us just 60 seconds of your time to fill out this 100% anonymous reader survey. It gives us a better idea of who our reader audience is and how we can better serve you!

How do you feel about maps?
The beauty of maps is their ability to visualize data in ways that surface perspectives you might otherwise miss.
Here is an article series that talks about “walkability rules” and highlights where we are currently at in Wichita, things like:
There are 1103 bus stops in Wichita, but more than 84% of them do not have benches
Pocket parks in the 1970s led to NE Wichita residents having better access to green spaces than the rest of the city
~35% of all land area downtown is devoted to parking

Polling Locations Reassigned
Some polling locations for Wichita’s March 3 special election will change after Sedgwick County officials announced that 11 regular polling sites are unavailable, impacting about 26,000 voters and increasing election costs by $20,000 to mail updated location postcards.
The City of Wichita will cover the total $170,000 cost of the election from the City Manager’s contingency budget. City Council previously approved the March 3 election on a proposed sales tax, with a public workshop scheduled for January 27 at City Hall to discuss how funds would be managed if the measure passes.
