What are your plans this weekend?

Good morning, Wichita!

15 years ago today, history was made.

Romantic high school Landon thought this was the perfect day (it was) to ask Candace to be my girlfriend. 15 years later and she is still the best thing to happen to me.

As Buddy the Elf once said, “I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it!”

Happy Valentine’s Day folks.

Let's get to it,

NEWS

Is it hard to be single in Kansas?

Wichita has ranked as one of the worst places (behind KC) for dating for a few years now.

I haven’t been single since before swiping was cool, so I’m relaying this info second hand.

WalletHub once again scored Wichita (and Kansas) low on their lists, but let’s take a look as to why and what they look at:

  1. Dating Opportunities (# of single people in Kansas)

  2. Dating Economics (cost to go on a date)

  3. Romance and Fun (what activities are available for the dates)

Kansas ranked 43rd on this list. The #1 reason up there isn’t going to change significantly unless the state population shoots up, so that already puts us at a disadvantage.

Wichita specifically ranked 57 out of 182 cities looking at:

  1. % of Singles

  2. Gender Balance

  3. Online Dating availability

  4. Other factors like cost of meals, movies, wine, and nightlife

At least Wichita is still ahead of Overland Park and KCMO.

If you do need a little help in the dating game, there are a few events happening this weekend (see below).
