Somewhere Fest

Somewhere Fest is officially here! We wrote a deep dive on Wednesday covering the festival a bit more in depth, but here are a few things to know or expect:

The festival is 2 days long - today & tomorrow (6/13 - 6/14) in downtown Wichita
You can buy 1 day or 2 day passes in both general admission or VIP
There are multiple components - music festival, conference, food court and block party

Last year about 12,000 people came and it was a blast. See you down there? If you see us, say hello!

Towne West Termination

Towne West tenants have been through a lot over the past year or so. There were countless power outages and, more recently, the building was sold to Wichita Maple Company and Baughman Company who requested a zoning change.

Now they are terminating all the leases for the small businesses (Dillard’s Clearance and JCPenney were not affected) and the businesses must be out by June 30th.

Downtown Sculptures

You may have noticed the 14 existing outdoor sculpture pedestals in Delano, Old Town, or Downtown.

The City of Wichita is putting out a request for proposals for artists to submit existing or conceptual sculptures within a budget of $8k - $14k per artwork.

United Way of the Plains is rallying volunteers for our community’s second annual Day of Action on Friday, June 20. Sign up today as the deadline to register is June 16.

Crown Uptown Update

The Wichita Historic Preservation Board has recommended Crown Uptown Theater be added to the historic register while the owner of the building wants to tear it down because he could not get approval to increase capacity.

Wichita Wind Symphony

Get ready for the Wichita Wind Symphony who has a show a month this summer, kicking off tomorrow at 7:30pm with An Evening of Bernstein & Gershwin.

Riverfest Numbers

Wichita Riverfest reportedly brought in nearly 35000 more people this year.
