Do you Fly ICT?

Every few months, I fly through the Dwight D Eisenhower airport and am reminded why we are so blessed with such a great resource here in Wichita.
It’s clean. It’s convenient.
You rarely ever have to wait more than 10 minutes to get through security (also we have one of those fancy, dancy machines where you don’t have to take laptops out of the bag).
Let’s take a look into our airport and what it has to offer.
Nonstop Destinations
One benefit of the low cost of living here in Wichita is that we can better afford to travel.
The nonstop locations out of Wichita make that travel much easier.
You can see the 11 current nonstop destinations, the 5 seasonal destinations, and the 5 goal destinations below:

11 Current: Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington D.C., St. Louis, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver
5 Seasonal: Los Angeles, Orlando-Sanford, Miami, Tampa/St. Pete, Destin
5 Goal: San Francisco, Salt Lake City, New York City, Charlotte-Douglas, Los Angeles. These are goals because they are major hubs that would greatly improve connectivity to/from Wichita.
Which "goal destination" do you most want to see?Or what other destinations would you like to see? |
You can see the breakdown by airlines here:

From these direct flights, you’re able to reach just about anywhere via connections. Check out the Interactive Map here showing hundreds of potential options.
For example, let’s say you’d like to visit Portland, Oregon. What does that look like for you to go there? Take your pick.

Or what about our neighbors to the north? What does a route to Calgary look like?

Our Nation’s Capital

Earlier this year, I took the direct flight to DC for work, but did not have a chance to explore, but I sure am excited to.
(FYI - The current ICT → DCA Daily schedule departs ICT at 2:34pm and arrives at 6:25pm and departs DCA → ICT at 11:44am and arrives at 2:01pm.)
Here is a quick rundown of some of the places I’m looking forward to visiting:
National Mall - The heart of DC where monuments, museums, and memories all line up for the perfect photo walk. Check out the Lincoln memorial, Washington Monument and more.
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - Moon rocks, fighter jets, and space suits make this a must-see even if you’ve never looked up.
Arlington National Cemetery - A sacred, powerful place where history is honored with silence and ceremony.
Potomac River Cruise - Float past some of the most iconic views in DC and give your feet a break while you're at it.
National World War II Memorial - A striking tribute to the Greatest Generation with fountains, granite, and gravitas.
Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History - Dinos, diamonds, and dioramas. It’s like walking through a National Geographic magazine (do people read magazines anymore?).
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum - One of the most emotional, moving museum experiences you’ll ever have.
U.S. Capitol - Peek behind the curtain of American democracy and maybe even catch a glimpse of Congress in action.
Eisenhower Memorial - A fresh and bold tribute to a Kansas-born leader who helped shape the modern world.
National Archives - See the real Declaration of Independence and try not to quote National Treasure while doing it.
