Does Wichita have the Voice?

I am always blown away by the undiscovered talent Wichita continues to produce, especially lately on cable music shows.

People like Arthur Gunn, Phil Stacey, or McKayla Stacey on American Idol or Chris Mann and Injoy Fountain on The Voice have all found success and continue to do so.

This year, the Wichita area had two people make it onto the Voice. Kameron Jaso out of Maize did great, but was ultimately bounced in the “knock-out round”. Be sure to give him a follow!

Jaelen Johnston out of Derby was sent home a couple of weeks ago before the Live Rounds, but brought back thanks to Kelseas Ballerini’s “Super Save”. Jaelen will now compete on the finale on Tuesday, May 20th! Follow along his journey. You can also catch him at Wichita Riverfest opening for Chris Janson.

Play & Party Co is a new spot for children of all ages to play and have parties. The owners Ashli and Dillon Enders previously owned the Selfie Spot. Party & Play Co is located at Westlink Shopping Center (SW Corner of Central and Tyler) and will open mid-to-late May i.e. any day now!

Water Recycling

One mans trash is another mans treasure, right?

Wichita is looking into ways to recycle and reuse wastewater from the treatment plants.

We would be one of the first cities in Kansas to do this, but it is already being done in Texas, California, and Arizona (states that are prone to drought, like we are currently in).

Park Gates

For months, officials have had to block the entrance to to Sim Park to try to stop crime (like street racing). Now gates will be installed to hopefully continue to reduce crime.

Take a Seat

You can literally take a seat from the historic Orpheum Theatre before it undergoes a year of renovations and restorations.

The seats are just a suggested donation of $30 away from being in your basement. Come by this weekend to get yours.

Gordon Parks Exhibit

From May 11th to July 27th, you can check out the Gordon Parks exhibit at the Wichita Art Museum.
