If you thought it rained more than normal this year, you are correct. Wichita cracked the top 10 wettest summers of all time for the 316 (and that’s looking all the way back to 1888).

Gilley’s Update

The Wichita Greyhound Park has been getting a makeover and supposed to be turning into a historical horse racing facility / casino.

Gilley’s, as it is now named, is planning on opening in December.

CIVIL

Permanent Water Restrictions

The City of Wichita voted 4-3 to put permanent water restrictions into place.

You’re allowed to water 3 days per week (based on address). Odd number addresses water on W/F/Su, Even numbers water on T/Th/S, no one waters on mondays.

This kicks off on 9/15.

Delano Common Consumption

Starting Friday 9/5, Delano will now be a “common consumption” area on Friday and Saturdays from 10am to 10pm.

This means within the designated area, people of legal drinking age can legally walk down the street with an open container.

This passed 7-0.

Wichita Public Schools

School is back in session and WPS are looking to hire 70 roles.

Alford Branch Library

The Alford Branch Library is hosting its Grand Reopening tomorrow!

Wichita Documenters

If you care about Wichita and would like to not only participate and attend local meetings to take notes, but also be paid, then you should look into Wichita Documenters.

Their next meeting is on Monday 9/25 at 5:30pm.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines will be axing the STL to Wichita flight while also adding a Wichita to Chicago flight starting in March 2026.

Star Wars Episode III might be one of the best Star Wars films.
