Let’s get to it!

Together with Advanced Orthopaedic Associates
There are times when you need to visit the ER.
But there are also times when there are better options, like AOA Now Orthopaedic Immediate Care from Advanced Orthopaedic Associates.
If you experience a sudden bone, joint, or muscle injury such as a sprain, strain, broken bone, sports injury, or sudden joint pain, their team can help you get the care you need without the long waits or high cost of the emergency room.
Walk-ins are welcome, and you will be seen by orthopaedic specialists who can evaluate your injury, order imaging if needed, and help coordinate follow-up care in one visit.
AOA Now is open seven days a week, making it a convenient option when injuries happen outside normal doctor’s office hours. Check out both the east or the west locations.

You can now sign up for NFL Flag Football here in Wichita with 6-player teams for ages 4 → 17.
Field Training Exercise
Monday’s often bring some loud noises. Typically that is the noon testing of the tornado sirens (just in case you’re from out of town, IT IS JUST A DRILL).
But today is a bit different, from 5:30am to 4pm there will be a field training exercise at McConnell Air Force Base from which you may hear loud booms, ground burst simulators and gunfire sounds from the loudspeakers. This is not actual gunfire. I don’t know man, 5:30am seems a bit early.
Free School Supplies
The new school year is almost here. The Salvation Army will be handing out free school supplies and backpacks for eligible Sedgwick County Students on 8/4 and 8/5 at 350 N Market. Sign up here.
Literacy
Did you know one of the most powerful ways we can positively impact the trajectory of a child’s life is ensuring they can read proficiently by the end of grade 3?
Blue-Green Algae
It’s not just lettuce you gotta watch out for. Watch out for those algal blooms at various lakes around Kansas like Lake Afton and others.
Oh and watch out for those dang armyworms.
Third Day
Grammy Award-winning Christian band Third Day will be coming to Wichita at Intrust Bank Arena in April.
NBC World Series

Congrats to the Santa Barbara Foresters on winning the NBC World Series Title over the Alaska Goldpanners.
That brings an end this year’s edition of one of Wichita’s greatest traditions. 86-year-old Max Smyth has been to nearly every one of the NBC World Series since 1950.
That is almost as dedicated as reading almost every Wichita Life Update since I started writing in June 2020.
